Merchandise Matters!

Monday, December 1st, 2008

The society has recently accquired an exciting range of merchandise using images by artists Eric Leslie and G.T. Hancock.
These items make a smart addition to any railway collection and are now appearing on mugs, key rings, fridge magnets etc and will soon be available on T-shirts, mouse mats and coasters! So far the new stock has been warmly received at both the Ashover Show and the Cromford Steam Fair.
So if you’re keen to get your hands on these exciting new products but don’t want to use our mail order service and wait for Royal Mail then pop along to any of the events we are attending in 2008 and we’ll see you there!

The AGM Auction 2008

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Those members that attended last year’s AGM will know that at the end of the business proceedings we held an auction of ALR related items (books and tickets etc.) to raise funds for the Society. This made almost £300 and has enabled us to progress with our railway revival scheme. Therefore with our 2008 AGM set to take place on May 10, we have gathered another selection of items that might be of interest. (more…)

Rainbow Ends… it’s days in Clay Cross

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

After an unexpected series of delays, the former ‘Where the Rainbow Ends’ cafe was finally dismantled between 22nd-24th November; securing a piece of genuine ALR history for use in the railway’s revival.

Using a team of contractors and a small but willing band of volunteers, the octagonal timber building, once the focal point at Ashover Butts, has been placed in storage whilst the structure is assessed and work progresses on our plans for the building’s re-erection.
