AGM 2010 brief

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

At the recent AGM of the Ashover Light Railway Society founding member Gary Boyd-Hope and membership secretary Carol Hope relinquished their positions as Trustees. Carols position has been filled by Dale Coton. Chairman Richard Booth paid tribute to both during their sterling work over the past 4 years since the Society had been conceived. Gary in an open letter to the Society revealed when he set the society up he never saw himself in the Chairman’s seat but over the past 12 months Richard had proved himself to be an incredible motivator, he also back the current trustees and encouraged members to show wholehearted backing. Carol, during her farewell statement revealed that Mr Richard Jackson had made contact with Society Secretary Russell Prince and as a result become a member. This is of major significance as Mr. Jackson’s father was Guy Jackson, who gave his name to the engine ‘GUY’.

The AGM Auction 2008

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Those members that attended last year’s AGM will know that at the end of the business proceedings we held an auction of ALR related items (books and tickets etc.) to raise funds for the Society. This made almost £300 and has enabled us to progress with our railway revival scheme. Therefore with our 2008 AGM set to take place on May 10, we have gathered another selection of items that might be of interest. (more…)
