Progress February & March 2018

The weather in early 2018 has not been particularly conducive to work outside. The so called “beast from the east” resulted in a layer of snow over the whole of the Rowsley site, combined with blocked roads that prevented volunteers from reaching the site.

Additionally, as the workshop is unheated, this was a further impediment to progress. However, one of the ex Duxford coaches has been brought into the workshop and stripped down to its framework. This has been de rusted and painted, as well as modified to more resemble an ex ALR coach. As well as attention to the bodywork the mechanics have also received attention. The bogies, for example, have been completely disassembled, de rusted, primed and painted.

Work has also continued on the Jaywick Sentinel with the frames painted and reassembled, and a framework for the cab and body attached.
