Cromford Steam Fair
The Society took its sales stand to the postponed Cromford steam fair on 22nd and 23rd September. Indeed it was sandwiched between torrential rain and mini tornadoes with great success! The stall, which had grown since the Ashover Show, now boasts a wider variety of merchandise and shelter from the elements!
The expanded merchandise now includes t-shirts, posters, mugs and much more. More details of these and how you can buy them will be appearing on the website in the near future.
Certainly the visitors to the show seemed to appreciate the layout of the stand together with its goods and a few were even tempted to part with their membership subscription on the day. Congratulations, welcome and thanks to them!
The display was complimented upon, along with the layout and variety of products. A big hand has to be given to our Chairman, Gary Boyd-Hope who, for the Ashover show developed and expanded the photo display boards that were designed for the first AGM, what an instant attraction, talking point and lead into the stand they proved to be!
As at Ashover show the amount of people who came up to talk about the old ALR, whose parents had talked to them about it was numerous, also people who wanted to know about our plans, wanted an update or had heard about us was uncountable!
Overall the weekend was successful in both raising money for the society and publicising our existence and intentions. We look forward to many more events like this! The next is looking like the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Steam Event 10th and 11th November.
